We got this call...

How much can I do without being Superwoman???
I wish I could do it all. But something tells me I'm about to eat dirt.
Evan found a pretty good deal of a house in central Alabama, for our winter project - on ebay. But when he went checking on the seller, and found more listings at another site, the pics didn't match what ebay said. So he backed down from THE PLAN. Then, Sunday, Hurricane Katrina went ballistic at noon, and by 3 pm the American Red Cross was offering to fly Evan and me to New Orleans to help with the shelter operations. I begged off, telling Dave that I really should check in with my LCC instructors first. (Two down, two to go) He thinks there will be a need for more volunteers over the next few weeks.
Today, Monday, Evan made contact with the guy selling the AL properties, and yes, the ebay pics are right. So, Wed afternoon it looks as though we're headed for the sunny South to check on some houses. And I will have to call Brian at work to tell him I won't be able to work Friday because we won't be able to get back in time. I feel as though Evan does not take my job at all seriously. He probably doesn't - why should he? I haven't had a real job in 15 years. This is probably no different in his eyes. He doesn't understand that I need the security of a recent history in the real world in order to hope for a plan of a stable future in this WHAT IF lifestyle we're living.
So. If Brian doesn't just ask me kindly to quit, and running a 3-week stint with the Red Cross doesn't get me fired...
Well, I was searching the CES listings again today and there's a post seeking a costume seamstress, part time, for LCC... sounds like it's right up my alley. Even though it's a dark alley just now.
We drove down early today to go to Jackson to pick up Evie's Neon; now Evan has driven home to change vehicles for our trip south, and collect a few more supplies. I'm already crabby about being with him on this trip and we haven't even left yet. Hold on, folks.
Ah, and now I'm ranting big-time. Whoa!
Tune in later folks, same-cat station...I need to go get some paperwork in the Vo-Tech building...
